This was an original thread I made in Februrary, which stood strong at 113 kudos. It has then since closed down, but due to all the support of over 100 people, I turned it into a blog post. Blog posts never close down. And that's pretty neat.

Summary[]
The XM8 is a long range, high accuracy beefed-up M16A1 . It is able to destroy multiple zombies with the special Burst firing mode and the Hard Impact. It's a really good crowd control weapon, and can take care of hordes easily, with it's high ammunition count and penetarion ability.
This weapon is mainly used to control hordes and to be defensive if you're holding a base. It's a pretty nice offensive weapon as well, as it's able to do 159 damage if all bullets hit per trigger pull.
Background Story[]
The classic M16A1 is a legend to survivors. Nobody doubted the destruction it could do, with the ability to fire 3 accurate rounds per trigger pull and decimate groups of zombies with ease. However, time was ticking and the M16A1 was growing old. There needed to be an alternative. A fresh, new weapon to start the burst family anew. Many raids and searches later, and the XM8 blueprints were found. The XM8 was easily convertable to burst, had a high magazine capacity that could fit many piercing rounds, and was relatively cheap to produce. The XM8 tests went well, showing extreme destruction of targets up close and in medium range combat. The time has come and the weapon was released.
Tips[]
- Switching to Semi-Auto on this gun can turn it into a DMR, especially with the scope.
- Although, this is not recommended due to the low damage per bullet in terms of tapfiring.
- The Scope adds 25 accuracy, pick it up as soon as you can.
- Stay near ammo stations, as ammo drains quick.
- High magazine armors like Bull II can be useful.
- Alternatively, buying ammo is a good idea.
- This gun uses Hard Impact 3, which is the same as the M249 's level.
- Line up zombies in hordes or use the Bell to get the most out of your shots.
- Damage does not deteriorate for every zombie you pierce.
- Can take out a Brute pretty easily, especially with 150 damage per burst.
- Despite the fact that this gun has 36 shots, you only have to fire 12 times due to how it shoots 3 bullets per trigger pull.
