"I bet you won't be waving when that train passes by."

Summary

The Train is a mount that you obtain after beating P3NG-WIN and opening the Boss Chest. This allows you to drive around the map as well as pull passenger cars behind it that can carry a certain amount of users.

Background Story

Vehicles in the apocalypse are hard to come by, destroyed or have been modified to look like something out of a Hollywood flick. Not a day goes by when some random survivor group plows through a group of zombies driving that old military truck or the occasional pristine white van.

Yet for Heavenly Day, they needed another vehicle. The previous success was evident by the many red planes now flying in the skies (among other noted people who know how to fly) but they needed something new. Something the public could enjoy just as much as a plane. But what could be salvaged? Boats were out of the question since a lot of survivors had a strong dislike for swimming. Another plane was pointless, and cars were plentiful as well as non-plentiful everywhere across the world.

It wasn’t until a random expedition to a seemingly deserted shopping mall brought out the answer: a train. The iconic and powerful machines enjoyed by both kids and old folk alike. Mall Trains in particular were often left untouched, ripe for recovery and filled with possibilities to be used as mobile attack transports in the apocalyptic days. No need to strap up in one spot when sitting on a car allows you to fire anywhere you please.

For the person who was lucky enough to receive this item under the tree, it’ll be a gift to remember for the ages.

Tips

  • Press E to spawn carts, you can spawn another cart when the previous one has a person.
    • You can also spawn a cart to prevent the train from being flipped over while steering.
  • Pressing the Left-Mouse-Button will ring the bell.
    • This can be used to get other survivor's attentions.
  • Using this to go on top of kill-water/brick will result in a BAN if a mod is in the server. (If you reach two offenses you'll be BANNED)
    • The same applies for safe water.
  • Use this mount to transport your fellow survivors that carry tires on 1930's Kingstreet, by doing this your team won't spend their stamina or boosting items for unnecessary running.
  • If a Train with carts is disturbed for too long (for example if is left on its side while running), all passenger carts will explode, which will damage passengers and nearby zombies. Be wary of this.

Trivia

  • The Train is the first (and only) mount to have passenger seats.
    • You can spawn unlimited passenger cars and each passenger car has 2 seats. However you can only spawn another passenger car if the last is being seated by a player.
    • If a player gets out of a car while there are more empty cars behind them, all of the cars behind said player who got out will despawn.
  • The Train, when in original development, was planned to look completely different.
    • The first train idea was a simplified rendition 1935 "20th Century Limited" passenger train with a New York Central J1e Hudson to lead.
    • The second train was the "Polar Express" with Pere Marquette N1 Berkshire #1225 to lead.
    • The third train, based more on the model we had before it was revised to what we have now, was based on Illinois Central 4-6-0 #382.
    • A fourth train was planned in the event this mount was to be used for a Halloween event, taking the form of a ghost train. Its basis was a fictional locomotive; Clinchfield 311, which itself was based on a real engine; Frisco T-54 Mountain #1522 (Apparently Clinchfield 311 became a Youtube Horror Story thing for people who played Trainz Railroad Simulator).
      • The alternate skins above were created on the off-chance PlaceRebuilder wanted to use the train outside of the holidays; a Halloween unlock, a general boss unlock or a holiday unlock with a more recognizable holiday look to it, however it didn't came into fruition.
  • Like the Toy Plane mount, the Train sometimes cannot move when spawned due to engine problems.
  • The Passenger Cars were planned to allow users to shoot specific weapons while riding the train, but was presumably scrapped as it was never implemented before R2DA's discontinuation.
  • The Train can also be seen in Toyland as a map hazard, tripping and hurting people that get in the way.
    • The Beige and Red Passenger Cars also seen behind the train were originally intended to be used on the mount. It was scrapped in favor of the blue cars for coding issues but remains on the boss map.
  • Canonically now a model of a rough-looking Chicago, Burlington & Quincy H-Class 2-6-0 Mogul.
  • The Train is the third mount to not allow usage of the Toy Sword to defend yourself.
  • Players who accidentally sit or try to drive this mount will get kicked by NoobBuster, meaning that they had to stay away from it to prevent that from happening.
  • The same goes with Tank.
  • The Train was the last Mount added to R2DA.
