"Burning at a heaping 1000 degrees, this thing can easily sweep through a horde. Unless there's an Elemental in the middle of it. Then your plan is knackered."
―WikiaColors

Summary

The Flamethrower is a primary weapon that fires a short stream of fire out in front of you. The fire covers a large area and any zombie that walks into it is instantly set on fire. Aiming is not needed for this weapon and unlike the past rendition, you can refill it to your heart's desire.

Just be careful near an ElementalElementals heal from the flames of this.

Background Story

When the time of winter came, one of the most dangerous species in the planet emerged from its hibernation; a rhino with hardened ice hide booting the power of fifty men alone. The team that learned of its discovery quickly shared their news to the whole world, and hunts for the beast were arisen. R-Brain Hardwork, most notably, took action to make a weapon that would be the perfect tool to combat such a force of nature. One of them thought, "Hey, it's made of ice, right? A Flamethrower would do wonders!" Thus production for the weapon begun.

During the creation process, they had the materials necessary to exceed current models that are often cumbersome and, sometimes, lethal to the user. No longer did one need a fuel backpack (that could explode at any moment) to provide ammunition. Instead, small fuel capsules were created to counteract this, and offer familiarity, as they work as normal magazines would.

Once people got their hands on the new and improved Flamethrower, they knew that things should be a walk in the park. Well, if only the Rhi-snow melted from the extreme heat that is...

But, even with the Rhi-Snow being unmeltable, the Undead melted just fine. Minding the awful smell of burning decomposing flesh, and those pesky Elementals, this became dear to many who had a need to clean up hordes of Mobs, explainable and unexplainable, and R-Brain Hardwork had a reason to continue manufacturing the Flamethrower itself and its canisters. And, those who wield it will tell you, it really does melt away your problems.

Tips

  • This weapon excels at cleaning up hordes of mobs.
    • Where it truly shines is cleaning up any AI or Normal Zombies.
    • Firing too close to a zombie may not affect the zombie at all.
  • Stick with teammates so that you'll stand a chance if an Elemental tries to ruin your day.
    • If you don't have friends near you, the Fire Extinguisher or Splashy Washy are suitable substitutes.
    • Try to have a reliable secondary as well so that you don't have to depend on other sources.
  • If you're planning to take on a Brute, catch it off-guard or at low HP. The short range can be dangerous.
    • Knocking them down prior to burning them is quite effective.
    • The Napalm attachment is quite useful for this task due to the additional range.
  • While spraying zombies with this, jump around them while doing so to avoid being damaged.
  • This can be surprisingly effective in Free For All if you can get the jump on other players.
    • You can roast players within range extremely fast.
    • The Firevest will stop players from taking afterburn, but it won't stop them from being roasted.
  • In Vs. Environment, the pierce of the flames and good damage can help tame the hordes after your brain.
  • You can actually thaw players with this!
  • You cannot ADS with this weapon.
  • It is most recommended to bring this weapon on maps like Foxriver Prison or Café County due to their small and open areas.
