Summary
The FAMAS was an infamous weapon from R2D 2014 that was known for how it could easily and utterly dominate a server. To say sorry, it returns with a sharp new look and not-so-overpowered statistics.
Like the Spas-12, it has gone through several changes. Whether these changes have been good or bad is up to you to decide.
Background Story
Legend has it that back in the 'old apocalypse,' all veterans and zombies alike feared the FAMAS. They don't talk about that now.
In the modern day, the folks at R-Brain Hardwork looked at the success of the AK-47, and thought: "Hey, why not make another automatic rifle?"
And with that, production of the FAMAS began. It's a good thing the guys down at the French military knew what they were doing when they made this, because it turns out that this thing can shred through zombie flesh within a few seconds.
It's important to note that when it was first released, reproductions of the FAMAS were rather rushed, which meant that the manufacturers used an incredibly weak calibre that filled each magazine with 42 bullets. Stupid? Yes. But we should also mention the embarrassing time when the R-Brain Hardwork employees made a worldwide recall of these FAMAS rifles to improve it, only to make one single change that replaced the calibre with... a slightly larger calibre that barely did jack-all.
Now you know the history of this rifle!
Tips
- With the high fire rate, you have to try to conserve ammo.
- You can manage ammo conservation by firing in short bursts.
- This weapon is surprisingly good at hoard control due to its firerate.
- However, avoid going too trigger-happy with the FAMAS, as the extremely laborious reload can get you killed once you run out of ammo.
- With a higher DPS, this can be considered a deadlier AK-47.
- It's best to deal headshots to maximise efficiency.
- Tap fire so you don't miss a shot.
- This also applies if you're trying to kill mobs from afar.
- Using those extra magazines given from armor will help.
- Using the CK Swat/Rambo Knife with this can be a devastating combo.
- Crouching gives the FAMAS an accuracy boost.
- You will have more chance of dealing damage at medium range this way.
Pros
- High DPS
- High Rate of Fire
- High Magazine Ammo
- High Reserve Ammo
- High Total Damage
- Automatic
Cons

- This is another returning weapon from R2D 2014.
- This is the first bullpup weapon to be added to R2DA.
- A bullpup weapon is a weapon with its magazine located behind the trigger instead of in front. They typically have fast firerates and irregular shapes.
- The FAMAS formerly shared the same firing sound as the Barrett 50 Cal., but at a higher pitch.
- The FAMAS is known throughout the community as one of, if not, the most hated weapon ever.
- The infamy is garnered from R2D 2014 where the FAMAS was given 30/3 ammo and 45 damage.
- On top of this, it had 1000 RPM. Any Tank was annihilated, rivalling a Minigun without drawbacks.
- With all of these aspects, this gave it the hypothetical DPS of 750 — an extremely overkill number.
- Even after being reintroduced in R2DA, it then garnered infamy for being comparatively weak .
- The infamy is garnered from R2D 2014 where the FAMAS was given 30/3 ammo and 45 damage.
- FAMAS stands for "Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne" in French.
- In English, this translates into "Assault Rifle from the Saint-Étienne Weapon Factory", a quite literal name.
- Because the Saint-Étienne Weapon Factory closed down in 2002, even the most recent FAMAS models are over two decades old. Due to this, the French army has begun to replace it with the HK416.
- The model in-game seems to be based off the F1 variant, but the barrel is shorter than it should be.
- The FAMAS has a common nickname, which is "Clairon" (French for Bugle) due to its shape.
- The FAMAS shown in game is the F1 variant because of the straight magazine and lack of a hand guard.
- The original FAMAS in R2D 2014 was actually named the FAMAS F1 and looks very similar to the model used in R2DA.
- The player ejects the magazine of the FAMAS by pressing down on the cheek rest; this is incorrect, as the actual magazine release is just in front of the magazine itself.
