Summary

The AK-47, short for Avtomat Kalashnikova 1947, can be considered a more speedy M1A1 Thompson.

Having virtually the same DPS, this weapon is great at tearing through hordes — and ammo. Like other weapons in the series, you will shred through your ammo. Aim for headshots, hit your shots, and you'll be fine.

Try to keep in mind that if soldiers used this weapon against intelligent beings, using it against brain-dead corpses are probably going to be one of your best bets.

Background Story

With success, comes knock-offs.

This fact was no different with L-Brain Sidework. After the recall and retirement of the Kalashnikova, multiple companies sprung forwards with their own version to cash in. Dismissing it as a one-time thing, they turned to work on new products.

Unfortunately, their sales started to dwindle. When they looked into this issue, it was discovered with every weapon they released, four more companies quickly released their own take on it. People couldn't tell the difference between what was an actual product and what was a cash grab, and their entire reputation was in doubt.

They took a step back. What was it that made people trust them?

Deciding that the future needed them more than ever, plans for a brand new Kalashnikova were drafted. This time, with a brand new name.

Tips

  • The AK-47 has a high rate of fire with low damage.
    • Try to aim for as many headshots as possible.
      • You can rip through a Brute as long as you land them.
    • Have a reliable secondary as you'll run out of ammo quickly.
  • At long range, it is best to tap fire or to shoot in small bursts.
  • While ADS'ing, the gun has some vertical recoil.
    • You have to compensate for this by pulling down while firing.

Trivia

  • This is the sixth weapon to return from R2D 2014.
    • This was the first weapon that was removed to be re-added.
    • Technically, it's also the first weapon to return from R2D 2014.
  • Prior to v0.9.4, you had to be Rank 17 to be able to purchase this gun for 42,000$.
    • As of v1.0.2, the required Rank for this gun has been bumped up from 15 to 16.
  • The same firing sound is used in the Remington 700 and the Dragunov, but it's set louder than the both of them.
  • The gun is surprisingly expensive in the game compared to real life as AK-47s are cheap to manufacture.
  • The AK-47 actually carries 30 rounds in real life but has 35 in R2DA to compensate for the low damage.
    • The 7.62x39mm calibre bullets used in real life are actually pretty strong as they're thick for their short length.
