Summary
The Helium Tank is an item that is capable of pushing the player away from any surface they click and hold on that is within range. The Helium Tank has 120/0 "fuel," and is nonreloadable, nor purchasable in the In-Game Store. The fuel drains at a rate of 1/0.03seconds. A setback to using the Helium Tank is that it rests on the player's back, and therefore makes it incompatible with the Jetpack (Modern), Medkit, or Defibrillators.
Controls
Spray helium gas (only works when spraying at a target (any surface) within the 23-stud range)Background Story
An abandoned store found in the Suburbs, Place 2 Shop, mysteriously still has a stock of party supplies. Among those supplies is a helium tank for blowing up balloons, advertised to wield powerful strength. One survivor decided to test this "strength" possessed by the tank, and proceeded to be launched 50 feet away. To ensure it's safety in usage, survivors have been modifying the tank to have much less capability, but it still is found useful to launch away from the zombie hoardes, or just to have a blast.
Tips
- Tap fire to conserve ammo.
- The Helium Tank only has 120 ammo, and you can't regain that fuel at any point.
- You can't pair this item with the Jetpack (Modern), Medkit, or Defibrillators, so be careful.
- The Helium Tank has an much more power than the Jetpack (Modern) or Ducky in terms of mobility, but it isn't better than the two in every instance.
- Jetpack (Modern) has much better vertical mobility, and Ducky has both infinite usage and is much safer to use, as you have more control gliding with Ducky, aided with it's slower fall speed whilst gliding.
- The Helium Tank's incredibly small array of controls still wields great potential for techniques and tricks.
- Be sure to find what is best for your situation, and practice the more commonly effective techniques such as boosting off of the ground, speedboosting, and hovering.
- Every map forces you to use the Helium Tank in a different way, so it requires practice to master the tool.
Pros
- Increases mobility greatly
- Extremely quick escape tool
- Can trip zombies
- Powerful blow-back
- Versatile
Cons
- Very reserved ammo
- High cost/round
- High ranked item
- Replaces Jetpack (Modern), Defibrillators, and Medkit.
- Doesn't push zombies (similar to Fire Extinguisher)
Trivia
- The Helium Tank is the fourth item to take up the player's "back slot."
- The first three were the Medkit, Defibrillators, and Jetpack (Modern)
- The Helium Tank is the first item to be able to push the player around without risk of damage.
- Granted, explosive items such as Explosion (Ammunition Type) on guns, the M202, and other explosive materials could be used to slightly "rocket jump" when paired with a Flakvest, the Helium Tank allows for a much safer and much quicker alternative.
- The Helium Tank originally would not have rested on the player's back, but rather their hip.
- This would allow for pairing this item with the other three "back slot" items, but this was removed for balancing reasons.
- The Helium Tank plays the same sound when blowing it's gas as the Fire Extinguisher.
- Despite the fact that the Helium Tank is meant to be much more powerful than the Fire Extinguisher when comparing the force of their "fuel", the Fire Extinguisher does a much better job at knocking the zombies back.
- Granted, using the Helium Tank pretty much knocks you back, so it makes up for it.
- The Helium Tank's original idea came from when I wanted to be able to jump from the large central building on Blox Harbor (with the satellite) to the smaller building next to the tower without touching the ground, and at a much faster speed than using the Jetpack (Modern) or Ducky.
- Granted, there are much better applications for the tank, but every idea starts somewhere.
- The Helium Tank originally didn't need to connect to a surface to be able to blow you away from the direction you're blowing at. You could essentially fly all around care-free.
- It isn't too hard to figure out why this was removed.
Updates
- The Helium Tank can now trip any zombie the helium comes into contact to, except for Elementals. (11/29/2019)
- The fuel on the Helium Tank was reduced from 110/0 to 100/0. (11/29/2019)
- The rank for the Helium Tank was increased from 18 to 19, but the price decreased from 180$ to 150$. (11/29/2019)
- The Helium Tank's range was decreased from 18 to 15. (11/29/2019)
- The Helium Tank's price was dropped from 150$ to 140$. (11/30/2019)

- Added sound to the tank when spraying (12/20/2019)
- Small note: I couldn't find the Fire Extinguisher's sound effect, but it is important that the Fire Extinguisher's spraying sound will be the same as the Helium Tank's sound effect if it's added (fingers crossed.)
- Fixed the rank to be more balanced due to the EXP revamp based on Jetpack's rank, rank increased from 19 > 25 (1/1/2020)
- Community feedback updates (1/1/2020)
- Rank 25 > 20
- Ammo 100 > 120
- Range 15 > 23
- Hovering on water is a bug! I can't exclude all terrain as maps that use terrain would mean Helium Tank wouldn't work on them, so fixing it would require some other method that I'll work on tomorrow.
- Grants the "no fall damage" trait same as Jetpack does, only applies until the Tank runs out of fuel.
- Maintains it's position on the player's "back slot." (1/3/2020)
