R2DA is an uninviting game, I feel like it's not dying, but already dead. R2DA is dead due to its toxicity, dull gameplay, and redundant gameplay.
R2DA's toxicity is mainly due to its players and how the game is constructed. In a simulator you could just ignore or block the person, however, n R2DA you can't really block or ignore a person. If you anger a person they will target and do their best to anger you, or leave the game. Not only that, but another example of toxicity is pies and eggs. Pies and eggs are single-handily the main cause of toxicity, pies and eggs can get a person killed if they're fighting in an event, standing over a ledge, or in a map like Caved In.
The gameplay is dull due to the absurd amount of grinding you have to do to get anywhere in the game, do you really think a 10 yr old new player is gonna spend a month just to get a couple guns and items? Hell no. I mean some people might find the grinding fun though suggested by the ratings and current player base many people don't. Although prestiging is a reasonable objective is a painfully long, and dull one. The only thing I really get from prestiging is a golden skincrate, no special gun or item, just a skincrate. The lack of reward for spending countless hours on a game just to get a golden skin crate which is purely cosmetic is HORRIBLE and a waste of time.
R2DA's gameplay is very redundant, playing zombie nowadays is just explosive spam, I've been in survival servers where the only things that stop explosive spam are champions, but even they fail to do their job sometimes. But then what's the point of brutes? There is no point in brutes, they're just seen as money, just money, not a challenge, but just money. I hate that, brutes are meant to be a blockade, an actual challenge for survivors but nowadays they're only a target for money-hungry survivors.
Moving forward (to more of R2DA's redundant gameplay), next up is objectives, maps, and poor decisions. Objectives are sometimes can be the biggest troll, for example, the train in Subway, or dynamite in Caved in.
Some maps are outright a challenge themselves, how do you expect people to throw crates off a sinking ship while zombies and minges are running around? Although the sinking ship might be the spice added onto the zombies, the map isn't meant to be the challenge itself, the zombies are.
Second, to last, poor decisions, a perfect example of a poor decision is the spawn system, rocket sleigh nerf, and boo buster. The spawn systems are easily abusable with the help of disruptors and explosives. Rocket sleighs nerf was way too hard, it's not unusable, but it's garbage. PR should've added a limit to the amount you could fly in rocket sleigh, but instead, he took a simple way out. Boo buster is aimbot and the Physics gun (from Gmod) combined, it is the pinnacle of a poor decision.
Lastly, if you're reading this, you're likely at least an intermediate R2DA player. But think, you made it this far through the hardship that is R2DA but has everyone else? R2DA has a lot of visits but a poor player base, people likely joined the game and after they endured the hardship that is R2DA they left and never came back.
